Tag: What's In My Shower

This is a video/post that I have seen going around for a while now. I initially wasn't going to do it as what I keep in my shower is quite boring. My shower is one of those showers in a bathtub. On the other side pictured is where the shower-head is and there is a built in ledge which I place the products on when using them. I also like how the glass door only covers less than half the bath length when opened out and when folded it covers less than quarter of the bath length. I hate showers where I'm closed in a tiny little space. You may also be able to see in the pictures that the bath has jets in it. I don't think they have ever actually been used.

This picture is just an overall picture of where I store my stuff in my shower. I don't store anything on the ledge on the other side as bottles get wet on that ledge and I don't use every bottle everyday.

On the water spout I keep a shower puff to put my shower gel on. This one is a Woolworths Select one I picked up at the supermarket. On the soap holder I keep a toothbrush and toothpaste as I do brush my teeth in the shower most mornings. If I don't wash my hair that day I brush them in the shower and have breakfast before showering. If I do wash my hair in the shower, I don't brush my teeth and after partially drying my hair with a hair dryer, I have breakfast and brush my teeth while the rest of my hair drys.

I find using my Clarisonic in the shower a lot easier than using it over a basin (well washing my face in the shower is a lot easier in general). First I use the Clean & Clear Advantage Blackhead Clearing Scrub on my face. After rinsing that off I then put the Clean & Clear Advantage Continous Control Acne Cleanser on my Clarisonic and use that.

The MAC Cleanse Off Oil is there incase I have a shower at nightime and I forgot to take my make-up off beforehand. I prefer to use the MAC Cleanse Off Oil as it is very gentle, it removes waterproof eye make-up and saves me from cleaning make-up off my Clarisonic. Plus I find my face feels cleaner and I know all my make-up has come off.

The razer sits there because it fits there. This is a Gilette one with three or four blades. I only like it becuase it has horizontal blades as well as vertical blades. I don't understand why the handle is strawberry scented as I don't put it close enough to my nose to even notice it.

In the opposite corner I keep my shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and mouthwash. The mouthwash is there for when I brush my teeth in the shower.

The shower gel I am using at the moment is the Original Source Lime shower gel. I don't love the scent as much as the lemon scent, but when I was at the supermarket last they didn't have the lemon scent. This is the shower gel that I use with the shower puff.

This is my favourite shampoo and conditioner; the L'Oreal Paris EverStrong Reconstruct shampoo and conditioner. The scent is nice, it has a great lather and I notice that my hair feels a lot softer after every wash.

Even though this isn't really part of my shower, I thought I would include it. On the step I keep a body brush which I use before getting in the shower, a conditioner that I have and don't like as I use it when shaving my legs, a LUSH Happy Hippy shower gel as I need to force myself to use it up instead of just purchasing a new Original Source shower gel and some spray that I spray the glass in the shower with after every shower.

That's what I keep in my shower.

Models Prefer Nail Enimal Collection (Glitter Shades)

Less than two weeks ago, I posted swatches and first impressions of the creme shades from the Models Prefer Nail Enamel Collection. Today I am posting swatches and my first impressions about the glitter shades.

Star Dust contains matte black and white glitter. It is different to China Glaze It's A Trap-Eze, however if you have one you don't need the other as they are similar. Star Dust contains more smaller glitter and more white glitter; and is more opaque, as well as the overall glitter is smaller. The swatch contains one coat over Essie Tangerine.

All That Glitters is a glitter topper containing red and silver hexagon glitter, and smaller light blue and light pink/purple glitter. It also contains very fine iridescent glitter. The swatch is one coat over a white creme nail polish. If you enlarge the swatch you can see the fine iridescent glitter.

Explosive is another glitter topper and it contains larger size burnt orange, gold, silver and teal hexagon glitter. When I first saw this it reminded me of OPI The Living Daylights, except that OPI The Living Daylights contains round glitter and the glitter is larger. So if you have one you don't need the other as they practically look the same on your nails.

Party Popper contains very fine silver glitter with light blue, magenta and silver holographic bar glitter. The first thing that came to mind was OPI Save Me. OPI Save Me is slightly more opaque, but they are practically the same. A comparison is also included; Models Prefer Party Popper is on the left and OPI Save Me is on the right. I do have a feeling that OPI Save Me has an extra coat or two than Models Prefer Party Popper which has two coats.

The last glitter is Pink Champagne. At first when I saw this it reminded me Butter London Rosie Lee. The glitter stands out more in the Butter London nail polish and is a slightly darker pink and slightly larger in size. However if you have one, you don't need the other. The swatch is two coats.

Models Prefer Nail Enamel Collection (Creme Shades)

In the last couple of weeks, Models Prefer came out with a set of 18 mini nail polishes. I have never tried any nail polishes by Models Prefer before and I decided that this was the best way to do so. This set retails for $20 which was great as after receiving my Priceline points voucher, it only cost me 44c. These nail polishes did dry within a reasonable amount of time; they weren't crazy fast-drying nail polishes.

Little Black Dress is their signature black creme nail polish. When swatching this polish, it only required one coat to be completely opaque and it applied evenly. The polish dried to a semi-matte finish so it wasn't as shiney as I prefer.

No Angel is their signiture white creme nail polish. When swatching this, I compared it to OPI Alpine Snow which is my go-to white creme nail polish. Models Prefer No Angel applied smoother and with minimum streaks in comparison to OPI Alpine Snow. Both were not completely opaque with one coat with OPI Alpine Snow being more opaque and more streaky, and Models Prefer No Angel being less opaque and less streaky. The second coat evened out the slight streakiness and made it completely opaque.

Hot Wired is a coral shade that leans towards tangerine. In comparison to Essie Tangerine, it is less red and more orange. This nail polish was completely opaque in one coat and did not apply streaky. As this coloured could be considered neon, the swatch would not photograph true to colour.

Out Of Office is a hot pink shade. Just like all the other Models Prefer nail polishes, it applied perfectly and was opaque in two coats. As this colour is bright it would not photograph perfectly. It is not as red-toned as the swatch photo.

Show Off is the orange colour in their range. It's not an over-the-top bright orange, and it's not a dull orange; but the perfect medium. Like most nail polishes in the Models Prefer range, this was completely opaque in two coats. The colour of the nail polish is not as red or dark as the colour sample.

Tall Poppy is their signiture red colour in their range. In my opinion it is slightly more of a blue-toned red. This polish was completely opaque in two coats. The colour of the nail polish is not as dark as the colour sample.

Sugar High is the sheer nude (light pink) colour in their range. I would say that for this colour to be opaque it would need around three to four coats. However, even with one coat it didn't look streaky.

NOTD: Sullivans Holo Red Glitter

The other day I was at Lincraft buying some elastic and on the way to the register I passed a display of Sullivans glitter. The 18g tubes of glitter were reduced to $2 each so I decided to pick one up to try out on my nails. One thing I do wish I did was check the fineness of the glitter (there were three different) as I would have preferred a finer glitter.

The colour I chose was Holo Red as it was dark enough to look nearly black, but you could still see the holographic glitter throughout it.

April Favourites

As it's May now, it's time for my April favourites! I don't have many favourites, but here they are:

OXY10 Vanishing Cream:
I stopped using this one and was using PanOxyl Acnegel 10, but during April I started using OXY10 again. I like how it doesn't make my skin excessively peel.

Revlon Colorstay liquid foundation for dry/normal skin & Revlon Colorstay Natural liquid foundation:
When I want decent coverage I mix the two together as one is slight too light and the other is too dark. The Colorstay Natural sheers out the foundation a bit.

Australis All Over Face & Body Tint:
This is what I wear when I want a light coverage or look like I'm not wearing anything at all.

Nivea Stress Protect Spray Deodorant:
While at the supermarket looking for my usual Nivea deodorant, I saw that the range was different. I picked up this one as it had the word "stress" in it. The spray nozzle is also better and I don't end up in a coughing fit due to the fumes.

Katy Perry Purr EDP:
I've been wearing this perfume everyday just cause of the packaging. I love how it's a cat.

Palmolive Foaming Handwash in Grapefruit:
I have previously been using the Lime & Mint handwash and when I saw the Grapefruit scent I knew I had to pick it up. It smells amazing and the scent lingers on your skin.

What are your favourites for the month of April?

NOTD: OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest

Today's nails are OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest. This colour is from Germany (Autumn 2012) collection and being autumn right now here, it's the first chance I have had to wear this colour. This colour is a blackened purple base with red, purple and gold shimmer. With two or more coats, the strong shimmer stands out a lot better in the purple base, but with one coat the purple base stands out and it gives an effect and look similar to Max Factor Fantasy Fire.

April Empties and Products I'm Throwing Out

The title says it all. These are the products that I've finished in the month of April and what I'm throwing out. Towards the end of the month I started to clean out the cupboards in my bathroom so next month there will be more products mentioned.

LUSH Whoosh Shower Jelly:
This is something I have purchased many times. I find this product convient for when I go to the gym as I can break off a piece and put it in my shower puff ready to use when I'm in the shower and I don't have to worry about it going everywhere like shower gel would. I will probably not be repurchasing this anytime soon as I love The Original Source shower gels.

LUSH Lovely Jubblies Breast Cream:
I didn't buy this as a"breast cream", but more of an all over body moisturiser. This product is supposed to be firming, but I believe that all moisturisers are firming and when you rub it in you start to circulate the blood in that area and so on. I probably won't repurchase this as I only did purchase it for the scent.

LUSH American Cream Hair Conditioner (samples):
Just a basic conditioner. Didn't notice anything special apart from the great scent.

 Girlz Only Haircare Dry Shampoo:
I have purchased many of these and gone through many of them. I will not be repurchasing the standard dry shampoos in that range.

Girlz Only Haircare XXL Volume Dry Shampoo:
I love this dry shampoo even more than the standard ones. I feel like there's more product in these bottles and that it lasts longer. Will be repurchasing.

Proactiv Solution Refining Mask:
This tube is practically brand new and full. I'm throwing it out as the packaging is so old and I have a feel that this product has been sitting in a cabinet in my bathroom since late high school to early university years.

OXY10 Vanishing Cream:
I now prefer this to the PanOxyl, although both are completely different. I will be repurchasing this product.

PanOxyl Acnegel 10:
This product is similar to the OXY10 Vanishing Cream however this one is designed to be exfoliating and make your skin peel. Will be repurchasing.

SkinVitals Hydraflex Multi-Peptide Flex-Cloth Mask:
This product was in a sample box and I finally got around to using one of the many face masks. My skin felt extremely smooth afterwards and there was lots of product in the sachet even with the sheet mask completely drenched in it. Probably will not repurchase it.

Kerastase Nectar Thermique:
This sachet lasted three applications. I actually loved this product as it made my hair feel really soft and it wasn't heavy for a cream-based heat protectant. I do plan on repurchasing it when I find a store that sells it.

:

Waxaway wax strips (sample containing two strips and an aftercare wipe):
I didn't actually use this, but passed the products inside to my mum as she is going overseas in a couple of weeks and the products are handy if she needs to do her underarms as there's essentially four strips in the package.

Wilderness wash:
I bought this in 2006 when I went overseas to Europe just to wash dishes, or clothes, or my hair and body if needed. This tiny bottle was about $15 from Snow Gum and it didn't do much. It didn't wash dishes or clothes very well. The bottle isn't finished and I purchased two bottles about seven years ago. It's time for the product to go as it was sitting in my bathroom cabinet doing nothing.

Avene (sample)
This is a make-up remover similiar to cleasning oils, but a water form. Did an OK job at removing my make-up. Will not be purchasing it as I am happy with my MAC Cleanse Off Oil.

Dermalogica Pre-cleanse (sample):
This is also similiar to my MAC Clean Off Oil, but it's not oil-based and it's hard to get out of the bottle. This broke my skin out everytime I used it, so I used it to remove stains on my brushes instead. Will not purchase.

Blistex Lip Conditioner:
Don't ask how old this one is. I think I bought this one back in high school. Already repurchased many times.
